As Procon continues to grow its Technology Solutions capabilities, we’re thinking beyond how technology is implemented today to what Owners will need next. Meet Mary-Sara Camerino, who joins Procon to help turn promising ideas into products that address real problems for Owners and the AEC industry. Mary-Sara brings decades of technology and business leadership experience across industries, along with a focus on a deceptively simple question: What problem are we trying to solve?
We asked Mary-Sara to talk about why she joined Procon, what makes technology useful and where she sees the industry heading.
What drew you to Procon?
I’ve been a fan of Procon since its founding, but it was the culture that made me seriously consider joining. We just needed the right moment, when my career in technology and Procon’s strategy would converge. That moment is now.
What separates a promising idea from a product with traction?
A good idea is a solution in search of a problem. A product that gains traction is one that actually solves a customer’s problem. That’s the whole difference.
Where do you see construction and facilities technology heading?
You can’t talk about technology right now without talking about AI. Owners who can cut through the noise and choose the AI, or any technology, that truly moves their business forward have a real advantage.
If I were an Owner, I’d be looking hard at two things: reality capture, to help me see what I can’t see, and agentic AI, to tell me what I don’t know.
What’s something your new colleagues might not expect about you?
I ride a mule named Jan.
